Department of sociology in collaboration with Computer Application department of RPD college organized a workshop on the practical usage of computers and internet in social science research and research paper writing on Saturday 20th October 2018. Prof Rutuja Kamat of Sociology Dept. explained about the research process and stages as well as importance in academic and non-academic fields and also described how students can write research papers on local issues which can be presented in seminars and conferences.
Prof. Sunita Bane illustrated various software’s and websites which can be used for research purpose at different stages of research such as MS WORD, LOTUS, EXCEL, POWERPOINT, VISICALC, INTERNET EXPLORER, GOOGLE, SPSS ETC. also explained. Use of computer in research so extensive that it is difficult to conceive today a research project without computer. Many research studies cannot be carried out without use of computer particularly those involving complex computations, data analysis and modelling. Computer in research is used at all stages of study-from proposal/budget stage to submission/presentation of findings.
