CAREER GUIDANCE AND PLACEMENT CELL
(w.e.f. 2024-25)
1. PREAMBLE
“The Career Guidance and Placement Cell” (CGPC) is established to support students in making informed career choices, and to enhance their employability through structured guidance, training, and placement support. The policy aligns with the vision and mission of the institution, and is framed in accordance with UGC/NAAC quality indicators and best practices in higher education.
2. OBJECTIVES
The objectives of the Career Guidance and Placement Cell are to:
- Provide systematic career guidance to students across disciplines.
- Enhance employability skills, soft skills, and industry readiness.
- Facilitate campus recruitment, internships, and industry interaction.
- Guide students towards higher education, competitive examinations, and entrepreneurship.
- Build and sustain strong linkages with industry, alumni, and professional bodies.
3. SCOPE
This policy applies to all undergraduate students of the institution and covers career counseling, skill development programs, internships, placements, and progression to higher education.
4. STRUCTURE
The CGPC shall function under the overall supervision of the Head of the Institution and shall consist of:
- Chairperson: Principal
- Coordinator: Faculty member nominated by the Principal
- Industry/Alumni Representatives (as advisors, if feasible)
- Administrative Staff (as required)
5. ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
5.1 Chairperson
- Provide strategic direction and institutional support to the CGPC.
- Approve annual plans, budgets, and reports.
5.2 CGPC Coordinator
- Plan and execute career guidance, training, and placement activities.
- Liaise with industry partners, recruiters, and training agencies.
- Maintain placement records, statistics, and reports.
- Coordinate with departments for student participation.
5.3 Students
- Register with the CGPC and provide accurate information.
- Actively participate in training, counseling, and placement activities.
- Adhere to institutional and recruiter guidelines during placement processes.
6. KEY ACTIVITIES
The CGPC shall undertake the following activities:
- Career counseling sessions and aptitude assessments.
- Training programs on soft skills, communication skills, resume writing, and interview techniques.
- Workshops on competitive examinations (UPSC, KPSC, FDA, SDA etc.).
- Guidance for higher education opportunities in India and abroad.
- Internship facilitation and industry projects.
- Campus recruitment drives and job fairs.
- Entrepreneurship awareness programs in collaboration with EDC/IIC.
7. POLICY GUIDELINES
- Final-year students shall be eligible for campus placements subject to academic and institutional norms.
- Students may be allowed to appear for multiple placement opportunities, as per institutional rules.
- Once a student is placed, participation in further drives may be regulated to ensure equitable opportunities.
- All placement-related communication shall be routed through the CGPC.
8. INDUSTRY AND ALUMNI ENGAGEMENT
- The CGPC shall establish MOUs with industries, corporate houses, and training organizations.
- Alumni shall be encouraged to support mentoring, internships, and placements.
9. MONITORING AND EVALUATION
- The CGPC shall prepare an annual action plan and submit an annual report.
- Placement statistics and student progression data shall be analyzed for continuous improvement.
- Feedback from students, recruiters, and alumni shall be used to enhance effectiveness.
10. POLICY REVIEW AND AMENDMENTS
This policy shall be reviewed periodically (at least once in three years) or as required, and amendments may be made with the approval of the competent authority.
11. EFFECTIVE DATE
This policy shall come into force from the date of approval by the Governing Body.
