A brief report of the activity:                       The English Department arranged Guest Lectures on “Word Stress and Intonation” by Prof. Roopa Samant. The first lecture focused on introduction to phonetics, concept of stress and intonation. The use of intonation in spoken English was taught through practical examples and students practiced intonation. In the second lecture the concept of word stress and syllabification was explained. Practical examples gave practice to the students who realized the difference in the pronunciation of native speakers and non-native speakers.  It was a good learning process for the students.
