A brief Report of the activity : The department of Geography had organised a special guest lecture on 6th October , 2017 for B.A. I/III semester students. The guest speaker Prof. C. M. Munnoli Associate Professor Dept. of History R.P.D. College Belagavi delivered the lecture on the topic ‘Tourisism Centres And Their Importance In Karnataka ’. In his lecture he thoroughly explained the Significance of tourism centers in India with special reference to Karnataka. He also highlighted the Geographical and historical importance of tourist centers with colourful images, etc. He Stated that tourism was a priority sector of Indian economy accounting for 5.8 per cent of the India’s GDP. He said it was the third largest foreign exchange earner and had one of the highest employment investment ratios. Every additional investment of Rs One million had the potential to generate 47 per cent jobs. Every direct job created led to the creation of 11 per cent indirect jobs. In his talk he highlighted the important tourism centres of Karnataka like Hampi, Badami, Aihole, Pattadkal, Beluru, Halebidu temples etc. and also explained the various types of tousim. As many as more than 50 students and staff members of the department participated and benefited by this guest lecture.
