The Rani Channamma University, Belagavi Zone Inter-Collegiate Cricket tournament was organized between 4th and 8th of March 2016 on the RPD College Ground. The tournament was jointly organized by the Department of Physical education and sports, RPD College, Belagavi and The RPD College Alumni Association. The inaugural ceremony of the tournament was organized on 4thMarch 2016 at 9.00 a.m. with Mr. Rohit Porwal a leading businessman as the chief guest. Smt. Latatai Kittur the Chairperson of the RPD College Managing committee and Principal Smt. S.P. Surebankar were present on the occasion. A total of seven team belonging to the Belagavi zone participated in the tournament. The participant teams are as follows:<\/p>\n

\nGSS College, Belagavi
\nGogte College, Belagavi
\nJain College, Belagavi
\nBhaurao Kakatkar College, Belagavi
\nFirst Grade College, Kittur.
\nSheikh College, Belagavi.<\/p>\n
The tournament was held under knock-out format. The matches were 25 over each and were played on Matting pitch. A total of two matches were played on each day except the day of the final match. After the elimination rounds, the first seminal was played between RPD College, Belagavi and Jain College Belagavi , wherein the RPD College emerged as winner and were qualified to play in the finals. The other semifinal was played between GSS College, Belagavi and Gogte College Belagavi, with Gogte college winning the match. The final match was played on 4th of March 2016 at 9.30 a.m. between the Gogte College Belagavi and the host RPD College Belagavi. Gogte College won the toss and elected to bat first. The RPD college could not successfully chase the stipulated target and were defeated. Gogte College emerged as the champions. However, both Gogte college and RPD College qualified for the next round of the competition. The winning team and the runners up team were awarded trophies in a glittering prize distribution ceremony. The officials which included the grounds man, the umpire, score keeper and referee were presented with mementos. Sri. Vinayak Ajagoankar, Hon.
