A brief Report of the activity <\/strong> :<\/strong> A Guest lecture was arranged by the Dept. of Geography on 20th<\/sup> March, 2017. Resource person Shri. Santosh Jaygoudar from Dept. of Botany, GSS College Belagavi delivered his lecture on the topic \u2018Ecology and Environment\u2019. In his lecture he highlighted Ecology is the study of the relationships between living organisms, including humans, and their physical environment; it seeks to understand the vital connections between plants and animals and the world around them. Ecology also provides information about the benefits of ecosystems and how we can use Earth’s resources in ways that leave the environment healthy for future generations. Ecologists study these relationships among organisms and habitats of many different sizes, ranging from the study of microscopic bacteria growing in a fish tank, to the complex interactions between the thousands of plant, animal, and other communities found in a desert.<\/p>\n In his lecture, he not only explained the meaning, definition and importance of ecology and environment but also emphasized more on the importance of the concepts related to Ecology and Environment in civil service examination. His lecture also covered the components of ecosystem, food chain cycle, food web in the ecosystem.<\/p>\n
