{"id":100,"date":"2015-09-21T16:08:35","date_gmt":"2015-09-21T16:08:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/degree.rpdbgm.com\/?page_id=100"},"modified":"2022-11-04T11:32:12","modified_gmt":"2022-11-04T06:02:12","slug":"certificate-course-in-kannada","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/degree.rpdbgm.edu.in\/index.php\/courses\/certificate-course-in-kannada\/","title":{"rendered":"Certificate Course in Kannada"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Syllabus : Certificate Course\u00a0 in Kannada language and literature for Non-Kannada Students<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The University Grants Commission has accorded permission to conduct a Certificate Course in Kannada for the Non-Kannada Students to help them to understand language, literature, cultural and communicate with kannada speaking persons with ease and become integral part of the society where they live in.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Specific Objectives:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The following objectives shall be achieved by undergoing this course and at the end of the course the learner shall be capable of the following.<\/p>\n<ol style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li><strong>Listening<\/strong> : comprehend questions and answers of the conversation, discussion, meetings, radio and television news bulletins, public speeches etc., given in normal speed in Kannada.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Speaking<\/strong> : Speak with ease in Kannada regarding personal needs in different social contexts, professional contexts without mistakes, conduct or participate in discussions and speak with ease in Kannada.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Reading<\/strong> : Read printed, typed and hand written materials in Kannada relating to routine matters, and newspapers and magazines with appropriate speed and comprehension.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Writing<\/strong> : Fill the forms that are printed in Kannada, Write short paragraphs with connected sentences; write applications\/petitions etc,.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Translation<\/strong> : Translate short passages, stories etc., from kannada to his\/her mother tongue.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Course Details:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Eligibility and Selection :<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>1<sup>st<\/sup> year degree students of S.K.E. Society colleges i.e., B.A.,B.Com., B.Sc., BBA, BCA are eligible for the course.<\/li>\n<li>First year degree students of adjacent colleges.<\/li>\n<li>Interested professionals and Govt. Employees and Executives and general public. (subject to\u00a0 a maximum of 15 candidates.)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Duration of the course :<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">300 hours, in one academic year<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Intake<\/strong> : 40 students per year<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Total Credits : 20<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Each credit : 15 hours<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Teaching\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 : 12 credits \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 180 hours<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Field work\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 : 8 credits\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 120 hours<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Course Modules :<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>Kannada Script-to read and write \u2018aksharas\u2019 and their combinations.<\/li>\n<li>Spoken Kannada \u2013in general domains and some specific domains like office, business establishment, market, college.<\/li>\n<li>Reading \u2013 An Introduction to Karnataka, Kannada language and literature through short essays and stories.<\/li>\n<li>Writing-personal and professional domains.<\/li>\n<li>Translation-from Kannada to mother tongue.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Teaching\/Learning strategies:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Kannada alphabets can be taught using the<\/p>\n<ol style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>Principle of pattern perception and contrastive observation or shape similarity method.<\/li>\n<li>Traditional method of a,aa,i,ii&#8230; etc.,<\/li>\n<li>Word method using the primary school text books of first and second standards.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In all the cases: the learners shall be advised to identify the relation between the letter ; and its sound value: link them both and pronounce loudly: identity each letter in the given word and read the word and after learning a lesson, practice the script with the help of the exercises. While learning the script with the help of these materials the leaner may read the sign boards, cinema posters, bold type letter in the newspapers, advertisements, brochures pamphlets etc.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 While learning to listen, understand and respond orally, appropriate to the situations major sentence patterns that are used in spoken Kannada are introduced in situations that the learners are familiar. Sentence patterns are to be graded from Simple to complex. Each lesson will have four parts: text of the lesson, vocabulary used in the lesson along with the meaning, exercises for practicing listening speaking and notes that aid the learner to the extent to which he\/she can make use of them. Here, the learners shall be advised to: read the text of the lesson aloud as many times as possible to understand the language used in the context: use the English translation also: complete the exercises orally and then in writing and use the learning process to complete. Hence, whatever is learnt should be put to use then and there itself.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The reading and writing is taught using the prose texts having stories, essays and small skits. These will help the learners to understand Kannada used in day to day reading and writing. And also help them to understand the Kannada prose writing in its various forms of literature. Each lesson shall have the ext, introduction to the author, exercises for reading and writing practice and translation passage from the mother tongue of the student to Kannada. While using these lessons the learners will be advised to: read and understand the prose; understand the way in which the vocabulary and sentence types are used by different writers; answer the questions in the exercise part of the lessons; write compositions as indicated in the exercise and also to note the idiomatic usages and the nuances of language use.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Papers<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Paper I.
